Peng Sun received his doctoral degree from Rice University, his master’s degree in earthquake/civil engineering and his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Southeast University in China.

His research interests include unmanned aerial vehicle-based remote sensing for smart cities applications, infrastructural/structural sensing using photogrammetry and computer vision, cyber-physical-social system-enabled sensing frameworks for urban planning, structural health monitoring for large-scale infrastructures, thin-film-based full-field strain sensors using smart materials, and computer vision sensing systems with edge-computing for connected communities. His research has been supported by the FDEP Hinkley Center for Solid and Hazardous Waste Management, the Florida Department of Transportation, industry sponsors and other sources. Sun currently supervises three doctoral students and one master’s student.
