Apostolakis Wins Best Paper Award
The research journal Engineering Structures has awarded the 2023 Best Paper Award to Assistant Professor Georgios Apostolakis and his students. The winning article, “SVD-Enabled Data Augmentation for Machine Learning-Based Surrogate Modeling of Nonlinear Structure,” was authored by Siddharth S. Parida, an assistant professor at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University. Co-authors on the paper include Apostolakis, Megan Butcher and Prashant Shekhar from ERAU and Supratik Bose from the University of Buffalo.
Professor Wins Two Best Paper Awards
Professor Haitham Al-Deek has won not one, but two Best Paper Awards from the Transportation Research Board. He received the Freeway Operations Committee Best Paper Award and the Regional Transportation Systems Management and Operations Best Paper Award. Both honors are extremely competitive to earn. To win these awards, the paper has to be rated the top of all papers submitted to the committee in that year. The papers also go through an independent and a very rigorous review and evaluation process.
