Warsaw, a vibrant and welcoming city, is the cultural and political capital of Poland. The historic Old Town and the red-bricked Royal Castle are Warsaw’s must-see. Meticulously rebuilt from rubles after WW2, the Old Town is known for its unique mixture of Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque elements. Lazienki Park is a place of tranquility in the very heart of the busy city. It hosts the Fryderyk Chopin monument and two open-air Chopin concerts by famous pianists each summer Sunday. The iconic Palace of Culture and Science looms over the Financial District. Once a controversial gift from Soviet Union, it is still the highest building in Poland.
