Georgios Apostolakis is an assistant professor at the UCF Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering. He received the Diploma in Civil Engineering from the University of Patras Greece in 2004 with honors, and his master’s and doctoral degrees from the Department of Civil, Structural and Environmental Engineering at the University at Buffalo in 2006 and 2010, respectively. He has over 18 years of scientific and industry experience in structural, earthquake engineering and computational mechanics and has published numerous peer-reviewed journal papers and technical reports related to seismic response and progressive collapse of structures under multi-hazard events, and multiphysics formalisms. His experience and research interests span broad areas of applied and computational structural mechanics with a focus in multi-hazard events and sustainability, structural optimization, performance-based design and retrofit, including studies on challenging structural engineering, risk assessment, life cycle analysis and integrity management problems for the oil and gas industry.

In the past, Apostolakis held the positions of senior technical professional – marine engineer at KBR Inc. in Houston, and research scientist and instructor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the University at Buffalo.
